AI Skills allow your agent to perform specific tasks by connecting it with predefined or custom skills. These skills extend your agent’s capabilities so it can fetch data, interact with external platforms, and respond to user queries more accurately.
For example, you can connect a Trello skill to your agent so it can answer questions about your Trello boards, active lists, and tasks.
Note: AI Skills are available only for AI Agents. They are not supported for Chatbots or Voice Agents.
STEP 01
Go to agentic.botsify.com and click on Create an Agent.
STEP 02
Enter the name of your agent, make sure the agent type is set to Agent, and click on Create Agent.
STEP 03
Add instructions for your agent describing what it should do.
For example, if you want to create a Trello helper agent, you can add instructions such as:
“Create an agent to answer questions related to the Trello board using Trello skills.”
STEP 04
Click to generate the agent instructions and wait for the setup process to complete.
Once the process is finished, you will be able to review the generated prompt and instructions.
STEP 05
Open the Skills module.
You will see a list of available skills that can be connected to your agent.
STEP 06
Browse the available skills and choose the one you want to use.
You can:
- Install one of the predefined skills
- Connect a custom skill if needed
STEP 07
Click on Install Skill for the skill you want to connect.
For example, if you want your agent to work with Trello, install the Trello skill.
STEP 08
The system will fetch the required libraries and files for the selected skill.
If the skill requires authentication or configuration values, you will be prompted to add them.
STEP 09
Enter the required variables for the skill.
For example, for a Trello skill, you may need to provide values such as:
- API key
- Token
These variables are required so the skill can authenticate and communicate with the connected platform.
STEP 10
After adding the required values, click on Save Config and then click on Install Skill.
The skill will automatically be connected to your agent and will appear in the connected skills section.
STEP 11
You can review all connected skills from the skills panel.
From here, you can:
- View connected skills
- Detach a skill from the agent
- Search for other available skills
- Access predefined and custom-installed skills
STEP 12
If you need to update any skill variables later, go to Settings and click on Skill Config.
Here, you can:
- View all configured variables
- Edit existing values
- Delete variables
- Add new variables
STEP 13
Once your skill setup is complete, click on Deploy Agent.
Wait for the deployment process to finish. Your agent will then be ready to communicate using the connected skill.
STEP 14
After deployment, open the widget or conversation interface and start testing your agent.
For example, if your agent is connected to Trello, you can ask questions such as:
- “Provide me my active list names in Trello”
- “Show me tasks from a specific board”
STEP 15
When you send a query, the agent will begin executing the connected skill.
It may take a few moments to:
- Install required dependencies
- Connect to the external platform
- Fetch the requested information
STEP 16
You will be able to see the execution progress step by step while the skill runs.
Once complete, the agent will return the requested information based on your query.
For example, in the Trello use case, the agent can return active board list names or other board-related details depending on the question asked.
AI Skills make your agents more powerful by allowing them to connect with external systems and perform task-specific actions. You can install predefined skills, configure custom ones, manage variables, and use them to build agents that can do much more than respond with text alone.
