When you’re building conversational agents for a global audience, supporting multiple languages becomes essential. But often, businesses want to set a default language so their users instantly see the chatbot in their preferred or most common language.
In Agentic Botsify, you can easily preselect the language of your agent as well as your website widget. This ensures smoother conversations and reduces friction for your users.
Why Preselect a Language?
- Personalized experience → Your users feel comfortable engaging in their native tongue.
- Faster conversations → No need for users to manually switch languages.
- Business context → If you operate in specific regions, you can pre-define the most relevant language.
Setting the Default Language of Your Agent
When creating or editing your agent:
- Go to Agent Settings.
- Navigate to the Language & Multilingual Options section.
- Select the default language you want your Multilingual agent to use (e.g., English, Spanish, French).
👉 This ensures that when the agent starts a conversation, it begins in the chosen language by default.
Setting the Default Language of Your Website Widget
If your agent is deployed on your website, you can also preselect how the widget should appear:
- Go to Deploy → Website Widget.
- Choose the default language for the widget.
- Save and publish.
Now, whenever a user opens the widget, they’ll instantly see it in your chosen language without needing to switch manually.
Multilingual Flexibility
Even after setting a default, users can manually change the language if they prefer. This way, you provide flexibility while still controlling the initial experience.
✅ Pro Tip:
For region-specific websites, set the widget’s language according to the region. For example, Spanish for your Latin America site and English for your global site.
